Chefs Move to Schools Program

Chefs Move to Schools is a key grassroots campaign created by the White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity to help solve the epidemic within a generation.

The RCA is proud to be a part of this great cause along with other national organizations representing chefs and foodservice professionals who share in the involvement and commitment to the cause.

Chefs Move to Schools Launch Event
RCA chefs participated in a kick-off event for the First Lady's Chefs Move to Schools program earlier this summer, on June 4.  Michelle Obama addressed hundreds of chefs from around the country on the South Lawn of the White House.  She called on chefs to get involved by adopting a school and working with teachers, parents, school nutritionists and administrators to help educate kids about food and nutrition. How to Volunteer
Participate in this monumental program by visiting the Let's Move website to sign up and volunteer at a local school. Through the Chefs Move to Schools program, adopt a school and work with teachers, parents, school nutritionists and administrators to help educate kids about food and nutrition.  The program will pair chefs with interested schools in their communities so together they can create healthy meals that meet the schools’ dietary guidelines and budgets, while teaching young people about nutrition and making balanced and healthy choices.  Be sure to note RCA as your culinary association on the form.

RCA member “Chef J.” Hugh McEvoy has been a key contact with the White House liaison to ensure RCA's involvement, and it is now our turn as an organization to volunteer our time and contribute our expertise.
