Last November, a wonderful Pacific Northwest Regional educational and networking event was hosted at Galaxy Desserts in Richmond, Calif. With over 60 attendees.
The evening began with a cocktail reception hour, featuring Kagome juices, pastries by Master Pastry Chef Jean-Yves Charon (Galaxy Desserts), unique cocktails designed by Research Chef Steve Corson (Northwest Naturals), delicious mini quiches from Nancy’s Specialty Foods (Heinz), and a beautiful fruit and cheese platter provided by Diana Naturals and Cheese Biz. While the guests were indulging in the culinary delights, Charon conducted tours of Galaxy Desserts-walking the guests through his entire production facility.
Food authority and wine expert David Rosengarten and Chocolatier Chuck Siegal (Charles Chocolates) provided the delicious educational sessions for the evening. Rosengarten discussed his non-traditional principles for food and wine pairing based on his book Red Wine and Fish, and then lead the group through a series of tastings. Siegal followed with a discussion about the art and science of artisan chocolate production.
As the end of the night approached, various gifts were raffled off, and each guest left with an overstuffed culinary “swag bag” provided by our generous sponsors. The region very much appreciates all of the monetary contributions from our suppliers: BDS Natural products, Kagome, Pacific Coast Ingredients, Perfect Puree of Napa Valley, Sensient, Silesia Flavors, and Simplot!
