ROLE SUMMARY

The Food Intern will work under the guidance and supervision of the Nando’s Culinary Director.

Nando’s US is offering a unique opportunity to intern through a menu elevation, restaurant test

and launch. Candidates should meet Role Requirements (below) while bringing a positive

attitude and a love for eating spicy Peri-Peri. This is an amazing learning role with a global

restaurant brand. Intern will receive feedback and coaching throughout the internship with a

formal evaluation upon completion of the internship.

Interns in this role may do the following work:

  • Evaluate ingredients for quality and performance
  • Assist in product cuttings
  • Test and recommend product shelf life(s)
  • Learn basic cost matrix of each ingredient to produce items that meet gross profit requirements
  • Understand the menu development process and deliver against timelines
  • Produce restaurant SOPs
  • Work independently and with team members to test and launch menu items
  • Deliver against any degree-program internship requirements (ie. final project)
  • The above bullets are examples of work that may be done during the internship. This position will be called upon to perform other duties not specifically outlined in this posting

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Strongly preferred a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinology, or a related field; applied experience will be considered
  • Ability to travel within the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area 75% of the time
  • Passion for Food
  • Experience in multi-unit chain restaurants a plus
  • Experience as a professional lead cook a plus
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs
  • Demonstrate good communication and leadership skills
  • Organized and structured with an ability to manage multiple tasks at once; attention to detail
  • Assess daily tasks and achieve them in a timely manner while communicating status and progress
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have the ability to transport self and product amongst Nando’s DMV locations
  • Compliance with all state and local health codes when handling food in any Nando’s restaurant
  • Comply with company policies related to COVID 19 protocol
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

 

Work Schedule and Hours: Full time (9-5 pm, 5 days per week/40 hours); workdays are Monday thru Friday; some work day exceptions may apply

Location: DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV); position will work in various Nando’s locations throughout the DMV. This is not a remote opportunity.

Duration: The minimum duration of this internship is 6 months

Compensation: $25.00/hour
