5th Annual Community Service Day at the Greater Boston Food Bank

RCA’s Month of Giving allows members to build connections with fellow members and demonstrate RCA’s commitment to local communities. Giving back to the community comes naturally to those of us who are members of the RCA. Leading the charge as ambassadors from the NE RCA will be Chef Joseph Ascoli*, from Reiser Equipment Corp., and Cara Dennis from Ken’s Foods**. Mark your calendars for November 6th at 1pm for our 5th annual community service day. Let’s get together to make a difference!

What to expect: Volunteers work in the GBFB warehouse, inspecting, sorting, and repacking donated food and grocery products.
Here's a quick overview of services provided by the Greater Boston Food Bank: “Our nutrition team oversees the nutritional value of all the food we distribute. Their hard work ensures that 83% of the food we distribute meets the highest nutrition standards as defined by the Choosing Healthy Options (CHOP) ranking system. And, 28% of the food we distribute is fresh produce, much sourced from the 30 local farms we work with.”
92¢ of every dollar donated to GBFB is applied directly to its hunger-relief efforts. The goal for our NERCA community service day is to raise as much money as possible to provide many meals to those in need.

2021 Month of Giving Event Ambassadors
Chef Joseph Ascoli is the Corporate Executive Chef for Reiser in Canton, MA...specializing in food production / packaging equipment. Joseph is a graduate of J&WU in Culinary Arts. Prior to joining Reiser, he served as Director of Culinary Development for Handy International. Joseph enjoys cooking at home and traveling. Cara Dennis is a Senior Food Scientist at Ken’s Foods in Marlboro, MA, developing salad dressings, wing sauces, and dipping sauces. As a native New Englander, she recently moved back to the area with her cat Fenway after 8 years in the Midwest. Cara is most excited about all the hiking, winter sports and beach time! In her spare time, she’s a committee member of New England Research Chef’s Association and Girls on the Run, Worcester County. Cara enjoys cooking, reading, hanging out with friends and family and spending ample time outside.
