New England Community Service Day

Join the New England Region for the Community Service Day at the Greater Boston Food Bank
Lunch and Networking to follow at Victoria’s Diner

Saturday, March 17 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. ET

Giving back to the community comes naturally to those of us who are members of the RCA.  On March 17th, we will have our first annual New England RCA Community Service Day volunteering at the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB).

“Our nutrition team oversees the nutritional value of all the food we distribute. Their hard work ensures that 83% of the food we distribute meets the highest nutrition standards as defined by the Choosing Healthy Options (CHOP) ranking system. And, 28% of the food we distribute is fresh produce, much sourced from the 30 local farms we work with.”

A $25.00 donation provides 75 meals.  The goal for our NERCA community service day is to raise as much money as possible to provide many meals to those in need.  Learn more here.

What to expect:  As volunteers, we will work in the GBFB warehouse, inspecting, sorting, and repacking donated food and grocery products.  NOTE: volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

Registration:  $25.00 (donation to the GBFB)
                        $15.00 Student Donation

Details: Join us at the GBFB from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. We will meet after for lunch and networking at nearby Victoria’s Diner.  Lunch is “Dutch Treat,” please bring CASH for lunch as they will accept one payment method only.  Check out the menu here.

If you would like to volunteer on March 17, but live far away, choose a local food bank and invite others.  It would be great if we could have March 17 become a community service day in all of the New England states.  Contact Susanna Tolini or Joseph Ascoli to let them know your plans.  Let’s all get out and make a difference!

Many thanks to our corporate sponsors: Bell Flavors & Fragrances and Ken’s.  With their donations we will have RCA “Got Culinology” tee shirts for everyone.
