General Details:

The 2019 Student Leadership Conference (SLC) will be held March 15-16th in Louisville, Kentucky, focusing on diverse careers in the meat science industry. This year's theme will be exploring exciting and unique career opportunities to show students the diverse span of the meat science industry. Students will determine some strong traits of their personality and how those relate to future career aspirations while hearing from representatives of different branches of the meat science industry. SLC will include industry tours to showcase some unique aspects of Louisville and opportunities in the agricultural industry. It will be a very educational and fun experience for any student or school who can attend. This year’s conference sponsored by the AMSA Educational Foundation, Merck Animal Health, and Nestle Purina.

This conference will focus on diverse careers in the meat science industry and will feature the following speakers and topics:

    • Katelyn Hawkins, Extension
    • Sharon Beals, Food Safety
    • Jaqueline Ponce, Packaging
    • A representative from JBT, Equipment
