Event Summary:

Join the Research Chefs Association (RCA) for a day of education, connection, and discussion focused on Culinology® education and approved Culinology programs.

Morning Session – For Educators Interested in Culinology & Adding Culinology to Their Curriculum
This 3-hour session is designed for educators and individuals who are interested in learning more about the RCA and exploring how Culinology can be incorporated into their curriculum. Topics will include an introduction to the RCA and Culinology, insights from Culinology professionals about their careers and day-to-day work, student and regional involvement opportunities, available resources and internships, and an overview of the approved Culinology program process and its benefits. The session will also include time for questions and discussion.

Afternoon Session – For Schools with Existing Approved Culinology Programs
This 4-hour session is specifically designed for educators and schools that already have an approved Culinology program. Attendees will receive updates from the RCA Foundation, discuss ELOs and annual reporting, learn more about planning ahead for the RCA Conference, and participate in a best practices roundtable with fellow educators and program leaders.

Agenda:

Afternoon session: 7:30am - 11:00am PST

Morning session for people interested in learning about the RCA & adding culinology to their curriculum (3 hours):

  • 60 minutes: Intro to the RCA (“What is the RCA? / What is Culinology? / Etc.”)
  • 30 Minutes on students / regions — why people should get involved. Resources, internship page, and more.
  • 60 minutes: What is an approved culinology program / benefits / process / Q&A
  • 30 minutes: Additional Questions and Discussion

 

Lunch: 11:00am - 11:30am PST

 

Afternoon session: 11:30am - 3:30pm PST


Afternoon session for people/schools that already have approved programs (4 hours):

  • 40 minutes: Introduction
  • 20 minutes: Mark with the Foundation - 20 minutes
  • 60 minutes: ELOs and annual report (Samir, Jason, and Darryl)
  • 30 minutes: Talk about planning ahead for conference
  • 60 minutes: Best Practices Round-table
