NY Metro Region: A Month of Giving Back – Food Drive

NY Month of Giving Header.jpg

Over the past couple years, we have experienced tremendous challenges unlike we’ve ever seen before. With our inability to physically come together to help, we’re hosting a food drive to help bring food to those who need it. Attached (link to the food drive list) you’ll find the list of items the Food Bank needs most – check your pantries and local grocery outlets to source those first, ensure the best by date for each item is within its shelf life.

How to get set-up:

  • Local Set- up for Food Drive:
    • Work with your company, family and friends to set-up a food drive local to you and fill up boxes of non-perishables to the Food Bank, the address for shipping is below.
  • Getting Donations to the Food Bank (Donations are accepted Monday – Saturday):

Community Kitchen & Food Pantry

About the Food Bank for NYC:

Food Bank For New York City has been working to end food poverty in New York City for over 36 years.  An estimated 1.4 million New York City residents rely on emergency food programs each year.  That number has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with many New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity for the first time.  Food drives are critical to our success in meeting the rising demand, especially during the holiday season. These drives benefit our network of over 1,000 community feeding programs in New York City, including soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, low-income day care centers, and senior, youth and rehabilitative centers.  These programs comprise the safety net that helps Food Bank provide approximately 80 million free meals per year for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers, including families with young children, the elderly, and the working poor.

This is the third year in a row where the RCA is supporting the NYC Food Bank initiatives and we’re proud to be their partner in this great endeavor!

Our goal is to have at least 30 companies and/or individuals participate in this food drive. Feel free to reach out to your NY Metro Regional Chair, Jessica Goldstein (Jessica@nu-spice.com) if you have any questions or would like to donate more!

Event Time: The Food Bank is always accepting donations, but the RCA is striving to have the bulk of our food drive delivered between now and Christmas.

Ways To Help: Give back to your local communities during this holiday season by donating foods from the attached list.  Whether it’s a company hosted food drive or individuals sending in what they can, a little goes a long way.  Please be sure to include ingredient lists and expiration dates.

Where To Ship Donations: Donations are accepted Monday-Saturday.
